Renado reminisces on the good ole’ days as he speaks on fatherhood from a child’s perspective:
W2S: How do you remember your relationship with
your dad growing up?
Renado: My father has been around me right through my
childhood. He used to play football with us in the backyard, take us to Game Cambio and he’d take us to
W2S: If you had to choose one moment, what would be your most memorable time with your dad?
Renado: It would have to be when I was in high school—during my exam period. Mum was very ill and had to have an operation – that was a very hard time for me. But dad was there to encourage me. I was able to share with him and he would help me with my studies.
W2S: What do you miss most from your childhood?
Renado: He has a new family so we spend less time together. I still see him regularly but I miss the connection we had when I was a child.
W2S: What is your view of fatherhood?
Renado: I view fathers as individuals who are there for their children. A father is someone you can talk to about your plans for the future; someone who you can look to for encouragement
